I'm getting some conflicting info during a web search of a Bendgai Cardinalfish. The info conflicts as to if they should be kept in schools, common tank mates, and food...... whether it be flakes, or frozen live......

Can someone give me some concrete answers as to what works best for them?

The reason you are getting so many conflicting answers is there is no concrete answers for ANY marine fish. Fish don't read the books we do so they don't know how they are supposed to act. Bangaii's are best kept singly or a pair if you can find them but in an aquarium a school will be brought down to 1-2 dominant fish. They do have little schools in the wild. Tankmates are any kind of fish that mainly won't pick on them. Cardinals are not hard fish to get along with so just about anything works. I never feed any of my fish flakes or dry matter, they always get frozen foods so I would say frozen but it might take a little work for them to eat flake. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.

Thanks..... the tank isn't mine though, just helping someone out.... that's why I was a bit confused on the conflicting info. I don't have a SW myself, though they are nice. I'll put the thought that frozen is the choice for them and 1 or 2 would be good.

thanks for the insight! :)

My book says they are nocturnal planktivores. You should provide a shady ledge under which they can spend the day. But they can break this rule in the aquarium spending their days in open water.
