Hi everyone,
We just lost our third gold fish (Johnny Jr.) to an illness we can't figure out. It's not fungus, or ick. I'm thinking maybe it's either an internal parasite or a bacterial infection. The symptoms appear very quickly. One day he's eating fine and the next we notice his fins are clenched close to his body, but he's still swimming around w/the rest of the fish. The next day we find him at the bottom of the tank and immediatly take him out to treat him. We put him in the sick tank and treated him with salt and meds. We even gave him a salt bath which seemed to work, but just for a bit, then the poor fish died.
In each fish as soon as we see their sick we treat them, but each time they died. It seems a little like dropsey but they aren't bloated at all. The symptoms apper to be - clenched fins on day 1, and then staying at the bottom and not swimming or eating on day 2. By day 2 it seems as though it's already too late to do anything, but we still try. Does any one know what this is? How should we treat it?
Please let me know.
