Peppermint Shrimp...is there a harder worker?

I've got two Peppermint Shrimp and watching them scour the aquarium for fallen flakes is impressive. They find them very well too!

I wonder if perhaps they've been through maid-school.

Is there a better cleaner?

I'm going to get some more cleaners...anyone know of an interesting, effective, eye-catching cleaner?

Snails are some of the best cleaners, but aren't really eye-catching. Some conchs and limpets have attractive colors--though some conchs get hude, and limpets are usually only hitch hikers on rock (too hard to get them off the glass to sell!). Some shrimps are great cleaners--but don't go after agae much. Blood shrimp are very pretty, and in a group, sociable.

What are you hoping they will clean?

The apartment would be nice.

But I'll settle for fallen flake, left over mysid shrimp, and such.

Shrimp will be great for that kind of clean up. Bloods shrimp, camels, and sexy shrimp are all attractive, and good in groups and with other inverts. I would stay away from the CBS--they tend to be very aggressive to other inverts. Many crabs will work as well--I really like the sally light foot crabs, though they get mixed reviews. Mine is very active, and hasn't ever picked on corals or other inverts, though they don't do well with other sally's.

Stars are another option. They may require target feedings--brittle stars are known to 'tent' and catch fish when hungry. I've never had a problem with the serpent I have--a red one. Some have lovely colors, though they are shy and spend most days hiding.

the camel look nice, so do sexy shrimp.

I'll likely get an emerald as well.
