What will you be keeping under them?
Size tank? Size bulb?

Tentative yes. You can get some great kits from Aquarium Hobbyist (http://www.ahsupply.com), and it will ceratinly be a big step up from normal fluorescent. Cearbhaill's questions are important, though.

I have an Via Aqua 37g Tall tank. Size is approx. 24L x 15D x 24H
I only have FOWLR. My understanding is that the smartlamp will be a good upgrade on my basic flourescent. Also, it will help with the coraline algae. I may want to and some coral someday too.
The SmartLamp is a 50/50 power compact bulb that combines a 10,000K Ultra-Daylight and Ultra-Actinic in one lamp.

This would help you coraline aglae growth and would be sufficient for some mushrooms and softer corals at low depths. With that deep of a tank though you will not get much power of the lights at the bottom. As long as you dont try putting to light demanding animals in the tank you should be ok.
