About 7 months ago I got 3 clown loaches. No ich ever. They are housed in a 45 gal tank, with 2 bronze corys, 2 tiger barbs ( used to be 4 one was a killer so hes doing hard time ) and 4 serpae tetras.
Filtration is a fluval 304 and the crappy aquatech 60.
Heres the question mine are completely nocturnal. They hide in a piece of driftwood and only come out when there is no light. To get them out I have turn out all the lights and just leave the tv on. Then I can see them swimming about. But if I get close to the tank they dart back to the driftwood. During the day with no tank light on they still hide. Is this normal?
I feed them frozen blood worms, shrimp pellets, sinking wafers and algea pellets. The tank temp is 78 should I raise to 80? Would this effect the corys?
One more this is a high tank think maybe I should add a small power head to increase the current at the bottom of the tank?
Ive read so much about clown loaches and mine dont seem to show any of the traits Ive read about.
Thanks Tim

oh one thing I forgot theres a bunch of hiding places in the tank, but they will only use the driftwood. The corys are all over the place.

mine are always out scavenging although i have heard of shy loaches - everynioght though the do diaaspear for a litle while but then come out a few hrs after but they are very outgoing

Theres really no violence in the tank since removing the guilty fin nipper. I was hoping after getting used to the tank and me they would be more out going. My jd hid in the rocks for months before becoming more outgoing, now she swims right to the top to get pellets with me standing there. You guys with clowns do you have alot of current in your tanks and what temp do you keep them at ?

Im paranoid about getting more. I was luckey with not getting ick or any parasites. I have 9 tanks and no quarintine tank. I plan on getting a 125 or 150 gal as soon as it warms up.
Last nite I watched them very closely. The greyed leader I think is the shy one. So the other two follow. I hoping they grow out of being so shy.
Mine are about 3 inches the lfs has some that are 4 to 5 inches. Hmmm maybe I will get 2 more. Thanks Tim

Well I went down to the lfs this morning she had 5 two inchers. I watched for a long time I think I got the two most active. She has had them for three weeks and they all looked good. So im crossing my fingers. Please no ick.

The two new guys took up with the tiger barbs. Then at 10 last nite all 5 were swimming in a big ball even with the tank light on. I sure hope this is a sign of things to come.
