What up eveyone? I'm new here obviously, but have recently gotten into the aquarium hobby quite seriously. I have a few tanks as you can see in my SIG, but the purpose of this post refers to various Arowana's. Definitely one of my favorites I must say. The only one available to me is the Silver Arowana. And usually I can only get them VERY small (w/ sacks still attached)...which is a huge risk in my tanks because they are so fragile. I'm located in Jacksonville, FL and was wondering if there was anyone on this forum living near that area? Also, would anyone possibly know where I could find other Arowana carriers in or near my area? Thanks!

Welcome to the tank.:)

I am not sure about your specific question, but I have to ask if you plan on getting bigger tanks? Knife fish can't be in a 10g. They get big! And, I'm assuming the eels you mention do too. Also, arowana's get VERY big and need a tank much bigger than a 33g...

Yes, I realize all these fish can get quite large. But, it's what I like and I have a place to take them to when they outgrow any of my tanks. That doesn't stop me from buying any of the fish I like. The fish can last in my tanks for a while, they don't grow to a couple feet by the next day, it takes time. I also don't have the room or money for 100+ gallons ;). Can anyone still help me in finding some of the fish previously mentioned in this post?

I really hope u are serious about having somewhere to take them. I dont even want to talk about Arowanas because Your tanks shouldn't have ANY of them in there. They need LARGE spaces and are fragile fish. If u are new to the hobby, try something smaller, with less hops :D and easier to care for. If u dont have the $$$ for huge tank you should prob stick to smaller stuff. Angel Fish are nice :D

YES, I am serious, do not worry! Like I said about the Arowana's earlier, I can only get them with the sacs still attached...we're talking 1-1.25" long! I think they can handle a 10 gallon! Yea, I know they can get HUGE and jump, but for the time being it's fine! And as for something like the Angelfish, I don't think so! Not only are they not even that spectacular or exotic (from what I've seen), but the fish in my 3 tanks would slaughter them in 2 seconds.... I stick with exotic, rare fish and that's the way I'm gonna stay. People are impressed when they see what I have and I am going to keep it that way! SO, is there still no one out there who can TRY and help me or am I still going to get badgered?

PS - If you like Angelfish, I apologize if I may have offended you.

.......................dude if u dont take anyones advice u will never get any better. and its just not right to always have fish then giving them away, seriously if u told ppl that u just havem for a while then give em away they wouldnt be that impressed. if ur gunna keep those fish get a tank that can support them and watch them grow and mature instead of giving them away.

and u arent talking like somone who is new. somone who is new would know that arowanas require special care that most by a new ppl cant do so u know what? i dont care do whatever u want but just think about this. listen to ppl sometimes cuz most of the time when u post here u WILL get help so use it

[edit and u said u were lookin for bigger ones watcha gunna do then huh? stik em in a tank as big as they are man those fish will be so happy

You should really rethink that arowana. Try looking into african butterfly fish; they are the closest thing to an arowana that's going to fit happily in your tank.

Don't arowanas get almost full grown in like 6 months? I think they grow pretty fast. Not sure though.

I don't like the idea of raising fish and selling them off once they get too big. Not really the cruelty issue because if they are going to a good home i don't see any problem in it- but it would upset me to get so attatched to a fish as it is growing up only to sell it off once it matures.

:sad They are my babies :sad
