i have 2 kinds right now, one is like a white hair algea growing off my plants, and hte other are HARD green dots on the glass, that require a razor to get off! anyone know what they are???
I have both types in my tanks, but my hair algae is more grey.
The only thing i have found to help the hair algae from gettingtoo out of hand is to prune out any affected leaves and scrub and decorations.
As for the green spot algae I have found that no fish can eat it.I have tried all sorts of different aglae eaters and still have to scrape it off with a razor each week or so.
could take an offensive route and get more plants too, this will help starve out the algae.
but I have no clue what kind it is. I only get the "no light shall pass through me" wall of green algae. My cories, barbs and algae fish keep that under control, though.
and it sucks. It was a last resort to a bad algae problem. I took out my plant cuz it would kill it, put about twice as much as recommended in my tank and it didnt do anything. I kept adding more and nothing happend. BIGGEST WAIST OF MONEY
