A zebra danio I've had for 3 days came down with pop-eye yesterday. I put him in a quarantine tank and upped the water temp to 78, but I don't have any aquarium salt so I'm going to let nature take it's course and see what happens (poor thing looks like kermit the frog). Has anyone ever actually had pop-eye transmitted to other fish in the same tank? I've read lots of posts concerning isolated cases on this board, but so far I haven't seen any evidence of it being transmitted...

Thanks

Pop-Eye is commonly caused by poor water quality (for the most part), so no I dont think it can be 'transmitted' to other fish except that if they share the same water, chances are more than one fish can get the disease.

If you need some salt, table salt will do fine. That whole iodine thing is a myth as the level of iodine needed to cause harm isn't in salt.

I used Maracyn 2 to get rid of popeye and none of my other fish got it during treatment.
