i have a mag 350 and a emp 400 on my 55 and im still getting stuff floating around in the tank(mostly poo  ) , im guessing the currents arent pushing the material into the intakes.

atm i have the emp400 on one side and a bio-wheel 60 on the other for the output of the mag. so 4 biowheels half gallon of bioballs in mag, and another gallon in the emp, so im not to worried about bio filtration, but im trying to get the water as clear as possible. its not cloudy, but there is still debris floating around, not many but enough to notice if i look for them.

If you are saying that the only media you are using is Bio-Wheels and Bio-Balls, then you don't have any mechanical filtration in your system. You need to push the water through filter floss, foam, or another porous material. Bio-Balls work best in large, under-tank wet/dry filters where there is a foam prefilter removing the "big stuff" before it goes through the system. Also, you already have more than enough bio-filtration with the 4 Bio-Wheels (the Emporer 400 alone is rated for an 80 gallon tank). Just because you have a high turnover rate does not mean you are going to have crystal clear water.

I suggest using the Marineland filter cartridges for your Emporer along with the foam sleave on the Magnum 350, maybe filling it with filter floss or poly, etc. Once you get the water decent looking, pickup a Magnum Micron Cartridge for your Magnum 350. This will really polish the water (don't use it full-time).

there is mechanical filtration in the filters aswell as the bioballs...

the problem is the current doesnt seem to be pushing the debris into the filter, maybe its just me and im being over critical, u can see the stuff floating around because it is "rare" but if i look for it i can see some pieces

i take it their both canisters. if you have messy fish its best 2 have a powerhead also keeps a current going and most of the poo etc gets picked up their while the canisters doing the bio work;)
