View Full Version : Should I add cleaner crew...
Before or after I start introducing fish? I've been reading a lot and I am a bit confused on this point. Anyone have any opinions?

after. you don't want to add a clean up crew if there's nothing to clean up. wait till the fish and algae start making a mess and them add them.
I added mine a week after the cycle finished, there was already plenty to clean up. I left the fish to the very last thing - which was a month after the clean-up crew went in.
My clean up crew just got in, my cycle is over, so far i have in my 20 gallon:
- 2 blue leg hermit
- 2 red leg hermit
- 1 emerald crab
- 3 snails
- and lots and lots of pods !!!!!!!!! (came with live rocks)
- + lots of baby snails evrywhere!
You will get mix opinion on this, i did research before and came up with that idea, of course i had alot to be cleaned.

In my opinion, before. There will be algae for the grazers on the rock and glass before the fish go in.
Thanks!
If they go in right after the live rock (I'll let that sit for 5-7 days just in case of a massive die off) should I worry about quarantine?

Most people don't quarantine motile inverts, they don't seem to carry the same kinds of plagues that fish do.
