I heard that some snails are hermaphroditus (meaning that they dont need to mate to reproduce). I was wondering are mystery (apple) snails hermaphroditus? And if not, are there any other that are?
Apple snails have separate sexes, however the females can store sperm/fertile eggs, so getting a previously mated female may result in viable eggs and offspring.
Common pond snails and common ramshorn snails are hermaphroditic. MTS are parthenogenic females. These are all discussed on the site OldVamp cited, under the menu selection "Various"
