Got a paired up male and female and they've been paired up for a while. Seems like the make is trying his best to woo the female but so far I havent seen anything to think the female has any eggs. I'm clueless. I kept the tank around 80 F. Just havent seen any spawning. heres some pics btw.

Here is what you do: Put a clay flower pot on its side. The D's will lay their eggs in there, and the female will stay in the pot with the eggs.
Not the KEY: Simulate rainfall. This induces breeding.
Do this by performing a 33% water change, and the water you add back should be about 6 degrees F or 3 degrees C colder than what is in your tank right now. This corresponds to raining in their native habitat in which the rain cools down the body of water they are in.

Edit: The total drop in temperature should be about 6F or 3C, so the water you add back in should be about 9F or 4.5C cooler than the water already in the tank, given a 33% water change.

I got my D's to breed after only 1 attempt! Just for the fun of it, I also let the water drop into the tank to cause surface agitation like rainfall, and for further fun I also played really loud one of those thunderstorm CD's.
Finally, if you get eggs, you may want to add methylene blue to the tank. All of my eggs fungused until I added this. I added so much that it was difficult to make the eggs out clearly, I turned the water quite blue. But it worked, and there was no fungus on the eggs (very few eggs had fungus on them---the eggs turn white if they get infected).

What is their offspring survival rate like? I have never bred them, they have always interested me though.
With the methylene blue, I had about 100 of the little guys. They are very cute, and watching the parents suck them up and spit them into a depression they have dug is great.
I feed a lot of brine shrimp and they grow very fast. About 90% survived to 2cm.
