Im gunna buy an air pump for my 10g aquarium but i have few questions first. What air pump do you recommend for been quiet and a good price. Also, if i were to put my air pump about 4 feet lower than the top of my aquarium would it loose air pressure on the way?

Yes, you would lose some air pressure along the way. I would recommend TetraTec air pumps, very quiet and are low price. rena air pumps are also very good, but can be expensive.

Check the sizes and prices at Big Al's online here.

Yeah, those are great air pumps.

BTW, you won't lose air pressure because the only thing that matters is the depth of water you are pushing down into. Whether the pump is at the top of your tank or the bottom doesn't matter (unless you argue that there is 0.0001% more air pressure for that 2 feet). :-)

Length of the air tubing will matter, but not that much. You know what I mean? 10 feet of tubing before it gets to your airstone offers more resistance (and less pressure) than if you only had 3 feet to get to your airstone.

I have the tetra tecs, and I love them. I have heard the Renas are quieter, but as the hocky fan said, they can be expensive.

I like the Rena line of air pumps..
