Ok guys. I had to share!:)
I looked at my lotus a few minutes ago and what to my wondering (or is it wAndering? hmm) eyes did appear....but a cute lotus blossom bud!
I'm psyched! It's going to be SO pretty!:D I'm working on figuring out why my stupid camera is working, but I should be able to snap a picture of the bud at some point today. Then, in a day or two I should have a great picture of a red lotus blossom:D
Just had to get out some of my excitement;)
Without one minor quibble - the aquatic plant kept in tanks as "lotus" is a water lily, not a lotus. They are still nice plants and the flowers are quite uncommon in tanks, so...Congratulations!!!!

Leopardess you continue to inspire us all. Your tanks are a part of the reason I'm trying it for myself.

Thank you vicious, seriously:) I dont think they're that great (yet) but I'm glad they please someone!
Danger, yah, I'm giving it another two days to full bloom:D Its about 3" from the surface - but it grows at night, so it might be quicker than that:)
I NEED to get my camera sorted out before that. I THINK i may have found the culprit as to why it wasn't working;) I have a sneaking suspicion that it has something to do with the fact that I looked down yesterday and saw that its AC adapter had, well, melted;)

Sweet! Congrats and get lots of photos, can't wait to see pix. :)
Is this the first one you've had? I ask this because I saw one on Monday, and employee of a LFS grabbed me and pointed it out. It got a bit crispy in the day before he moved it, due to it's proximity to the lights. They have another one coming up as well.

It'll be my first flower, yes. I have only had these lotuses for about 3 months:D I grew them from little babies.
Ok, this thing's growth amazes me. It is now half an inch *above* the surface! Thats an inch from the last time I posted.

No, in fact it looks like its closing. I seem to have forgotten that they are nocturnal flowers. At least that's what I've read. Dang it. Sorry:o I guess itll take at least another day or so:(
As soon as it does there will be pics though. I just wanted to post some of its early stages so I could see how it progressed:)
