I don't have a marine aquarium right now, but I am planning to get one in the future. I already have an idea of the fish that I want to get, but I don't know much about how well they will do together. First, I am planning on starting with some Damselfish, to get a general feel for the Marine Aquarium, and to get it started and stable. Then, these are the fish that I want to get eventually:

Yellow Tang
Regal Tang
Parrot Wrasse (?)
Picasso Triggerfish
Flame Angelfish (?)
Diamond Flecked Pufferfish

And a few others, but I am undecided. I am planning on having a pretty large tank.

Could someone tell me how well these would do together, and make some suggestions on other fish? Thanks for your time!:D

Welcome to Aquaria Central! Well for most of those guys you will need a minimum of 150 gallons. I would not do the Puffer due to the fact they can be tricky to add with other fish are best left to those with a little more experience. I also wouldn't do the Red Parrow Wrasse because they max at 4 inches while the rest get close to a foot long, especially the trigg and 4 inches but be a little too irrestable. You could go with one of the larger Wrasses like the Thalassomas which include the Lunare, Rainbow Rock, Quinqevittam, among others. All the others should work fine together in a large tank. I also would not start with Damsels. They are the biggest pains and if you add them to a tank you have to remove them before you can add any other fish. Anyway, hope this helps and good luck.

Ok, thanks very much! I was planning to remove the Damsels before I got anything else. I will also leave out the pufferfish and parrot wrasse. :D

Just to add a little something to Mono's reply. I wouldn't risk two tangs either they have a tendancy not to get along with other tangs unless you have a really big tank.
welcome aboard
Chris

I had really bad luck in tank about your size. I couldn't get them to get along once they started getting bigger. Maybe some other people have had better luck than I have though. Have you ever thought about the butterfly fish they have the same body style and mine get along find with my tang.
hope this helps

I don't have a tank yet. I have considered Butterfly fish, but I thought they needed a peaceful tank, whereas the Tangs tend to be terretorial. I have heard that the Picasso Trigger is fairly peaceful, though...

In general the Picasso is not all that nice. They are actually one of the more aggressive triggers when they get adult. If you want a truely nice trigger then look into the Blue Throat Trigger, these along with others in the Xanthichthys group are the most peaceful in the family. Niger Triggers are generally nice too but will get far too large for your tank. Hope this helps.
