i have a digital camera, and i'm finding it very difficult to take pics of my tank. Any suggestions on how to not get blurry pics, or reflection off the glass? lighting, angle, style suggestions please. suggestions on whole tank photos as well as how to get pics of its specific inhabitants.

Try taking your pics through glass at an angle.

For the blurry ones, try pressing the button half way down (focus) first before you completely press it all the way down to take the picture.

I usually have my flash on and on the close-up mode (it is a flower icon on mine) while taking pics of my tank.

Good luck.

For fish pictures, flash can be helpful on closeups. Then, as said, you need to have the camera on "closeup" mode - usually a flower icon. You would take the pic at an angle to avoid any glare on the glass

For tank pics, I don't use flash. Wait until night time and turn off all of the room lights, leaving just the tank lights on.

And a tripod can be quite helpful. Even just one of those 1 foot high ones that you can rest on a chair. Or, if you want to try using a chair and a stack of books or a table or something, it can be helpful too.

thanks, the closeup tip worked well, as did the taking pics at night. i think the problem was that when i wan't using closeup, the cam was focusing on the glass of the tank rather than what was in it. I'm using a minolta dimageXi.

auto focus cameras suck for aquariums. If your camera is 2 mega pixles or more, Id try backing up a few more feet from the aquarium, then just crop the image on your computer. YOur picture will probably come out much less blury. Also try to take pictures of your fish when they are at the front of the aquarium because your camera is usually focused on the front glass
