What types of snails and cleanup critters (eg, hermits) are best/safest for a live rock, live sand, fish and soft corals (polyps, mushrooms, leathers) tank? There are also some cleaner shrimp in the tank, as well as a mandarin fish.

And are there any particular types of snails or critters to definitely avoid?

Thanks.

I have yet to find a snail I didn't like. The one time I tried nerites, they all eventually left the tank, but they were good algae eaters until then.
I have been using a mix of astreas, ceriths and little strombus, and it seems to work. For hermits, scarlets and blue legs have been just fine. I'd avoid any large hermits.

I agree with Dave. I just put a cleaning crew in last week in a two month tank including astres, ceriths, strombus, and turbos. For crabs I added 10 scarlet, and 5 blue legs. I also added a peppermint shrimp to help catch any excess food that hits the ground. They are all going to town and doing a good job.
