I'm not sure how it happened but my coly coral (which has been doing WONDERFULLY since I got it a few weeks ago) got too close to the suction end of one of my PHs this afternoon and got partially sucked into it.

You see, the coral likes to be in front of the PH and in the direct current. How do I know this? If I move the coral away from the PH, where there absolutely NO CHANCE of it getting sucked in but also out of the direct current that it likes, it gets mad and slumps and stays closed most of the time. Not a pretty sight, a sad coral. However, if I place it in front of the PH right in the current it almost immediately opens and straightens and looks AMAZING! Anyway, I've been keeping it in front of this PH so it was happy and I think it was so happy that it extended itself a little too much and it got caught in the suction and into the PH went part of one of it's 3 main branches. Now, I left the house this afternoon at 12:15pm and it was fine ... not in the PH, floating gracefully, very pretty pinky color ... when I returned this evening around 7:30pm to my horror I found it Stretched, all closed up, very pale (almost white), stuck in the PH. I immediately turned off the PH and gently pulled the branch that was stuckand about 1-2 inches of the end of that branch was stuck up in there but I did get it free. However, once I had the stuck part out I noticed it was all purple/blackened ... all the polyps at the tip.

So, what do I do now? It's been a couple hours since I freed it and I did move it away from the PH. It's starting to look a little better ... it's branches (the ones NOT stuck) have started to open and it seems to have better color BUT the part that was in the PH is still all closed and purple/black in color. Will this part die? Will it fall off or what? Will this hurt my tank? Please advise!

I hope it doesn't die but, some of these guys can't take a shock to their system. I wouldn't do anything drastic but, I'd keep a real close eye on it . Which I'm sure you would do anyway. If it starts to melt down ," you'll know", I'd remove it . It might recover if it's not to torn up . I'd look and see if I could see any holes in it that would kinda let you now how it's going to go. I really do wish you the best . I'll be looking to see if anyone else can give you any better advise. I'd also recomend a way to screen off your power head intake.
Best of luck
Chris

Take a razor blade and cut the injured part off. The coral won't mind being cut, and the damaged part may get infected.
