OK... I know my new "rubber lip" pleco doesn't really have a great big white head zit on it's head. I know it's a single huge honkin' ichtyowhateverwhatever parasitic cyst thingee. (Hope I didn't lose you with my technical jargon.)

But every teen-angst-honed nerve in my body is screaming at me to pop this thing. Somebody please assure me that this is the WRONG thing to do before I lose control.

He is in perfect health and shows no other signs of ich at all.

BTW, I got two of these guys in the hopes they will be gentler on my swords and crypts than my former common plecos. Any comments on that?

Thanks.

Do not, under any circumstances, treat it like a zit. While this might kill the parasite, it also opens the fish up to a variety of very nasty infections. Treat for ich--I use salt and raised the temp to 86 for my bristlenose, and had no losses or problems. Make sure you have lots of surface movement, sot he increased temp doesn't result in depleted O2.

Rubbers and bristlenose are both good for planted tanks.
