Hello everyone,
I have decided to bust out a 125g or even a 180g All-Glass Twin-Flo tank to be the new home for my 3 adolescent male oscars (they are 6-7 inches at the moment). They currently reside in a 55g under-gravel filter tank that is pretty old. Keeping the tank clean is becoming a real chore that will only get worse.
Ok, so the pet shop will have the tank in a couple of days, and I already placed an order with petsmart for the following filter and media:
Proquatics 2400 Canister Filter
Sponge Pre-Filter
Sponge Sub-Filter
Lava Rock Media
I have never had a canister filter before, but I assume that I more or less plum it straight into the inlet and outlet in one of the two corner twin-flo's on my new tank using the All-Glass corner overflow kit?
What would be a good filter to connect to the over-flow in the other end of the tank? Another Proquatics 2400, or something else? Perhaps a different type of filter to complement the 2400?
Also, I'd like to incorporate heating inline with this second filter, how do I accomlish that?
Finally, being new to this whole canister filter business, how long should I wait once things are up and running before moving the oscars over, and should I move them all at once or over a couple of days or more?
Thanks in advance for any pointers!
