I know there is a forum for bottom feeders but still new and green to this. In my 55g I have 4 small clown loaches, 2 emerald corydoras and one pleco. In addition, I have 4 dwarf gouramis, 4 red-skirt tetras, 3 black-skirt tetras and 4 platys. I have been feeding the bottom feeders sinking wafers but I am not sure how much and often is correct. It seems like all the other fish enjoy these wafers as much as the bottom feeders and some competition for the food is noticeable. I feed the top and midlevel guys at the same time with something different. Whats the right balance? The clowns only seem interested in the wafers. They could be feasting on the snail population. They are very reclusive. Thanks!

I usually feed the mid to top dwelling fish during the day/ evening frozen or flake food as much as they can eat in five minutes. I feed my night feeders - catfish, loaches and pleco after lights out with a few sinking pellets / wafers. they do just great!

Sounds like a plan. I have some new shrimp pellets to try! Thanks!

I don't usually feed loaches anything. They're aggresive enough to get what they need when feeding other fish. Also, they're bottom feeders and they're supposed to eat leftovers. Never fed loaches any sinking waffers. Same thing with corries, but mybe once a week I'll give them 2 waffers each. All the bottom feeders are doing great and growing nicely.

Why should you never feed loaches and corys wafers? I put 4 loaches in my 55g a little over 2 weeks ago. I consistently see 3 of the 4 but never 4 at once. I have looked the tank over and the outside but it is MIA! Suggestions? Thanks for the feeding advice!

I have 3 clowns, 6 cory cats and a pleco. I feed the corys two sinking wafers a day and the pleco an algae tablet. I don't target feed the loaches since they eat when I feed the rest of the fish and will also eat some of the cory wafers and algae tablet.

As emoore mentioned, loaches get lots of food when other fish get fed. Also, they feed on snails. I don't see the need and they grow and look really good.
I only have cories and a flying fox but I drop a couple of shrimp pellets each day in the tank for them. They also scavnge the excess flakes. But I would keep doign what you are doing. Clowns will quickly destroy a snail population so adding waffers taht they like to eat is fine.
