I have 2 convicts in a 20 gal.( they are still very young ), but do they need to have their own territories and hiding spots. The reason I ask is that one seems to bully the other, both similar in size. Will more hiding spaces help, I'm afraid that one will die. I'd like to see both become adults.

I went through the same thing when I set up my 30gl. tank. I started out with two convicts, same size, both female.

one quickly established herself as the big cheese, bullying the other to a spot in a corner of the tank. And just constantly pestering the other anytime she ventured out.

I rearranged the tank, and added afew more rocks paying attention to ensuring hiding places and caves.

For the most part this worked, they both have established thier own territory.Although the big cheese still lets it be known she is just that. It boils down to the fact that thier convicts, and aggresive by nature.

They're great fish, try rearranging the tank and have plenty of hiding places ect... and things should settle down.

Billfish ;)
