My silk and plastic plants are starting to look a bit grungy and some kind of black stuff is collecting on them.

What is the best way to clean these without hurting the fish or the biological balance?

I did a search but came up with nothing so far.

Thanks in advance!

Take them out and scrub them with hot water:)

Best way to clean them is to take them out and scrub a bit. Not that great for you biological balance, but it gets the job done. You could always do a third of the plants at a time to give bacteria time to rebuild on the already cleaned ones.

The amount of bacteria on them is nearly negligible compared to the amount that is present on the glass, gravel, and filter.

Thanks, guys. I wasn't sure if just hot water would do the trick or not, but I guess I was on the right track anyway.

I only have a few of the plants that are looking dirty, so I guess that'll be one of my jobs tomorrow.
