Should I give my Oscar vitamins?

So what's the deal with vitamins? I have a healthy 8 month old 7" including fins red tiger Oscar and I've never given him vitamins, but I've recently seen some mentions of them that kind of sounded like some people do all the time. He did survive a rough cycle when I was a noob(like 2 days with ammonia between 4-8 ppm) and had fin and tail rot about 2 months ago, I've been running melafix occasionally since the fin and tail rot because I've never been able to get a good look at his pectoral fin since then and he had a spot that looked like possible early HITH that is all but gone now.

I feed him New Life spectrum twice a day as his staple and have since he was about 2 months, 1 1-/2 tetra jumbo shrimp(krill-e) a day starting about 2 months ago, and about 10 Hikari cychlid staple mini pellets a day starting about a month ago which he eats in about 2 minutes. So that's just New life in the morning, the Hikari mid day, and New Life and the Shrimp at night. He won't or can't eat the New Life out of the gravel, and when I started giving it to him he wouldn't eat anything else(at least not the Hikari or the wardley (wardley is what I started him on which he would devour until he tasted the new life, then he wouldn't touch it, so I tiried the Hikari which he tried once, and finally after over a month of offering him Wardley and Hikari alone in the morning and him not eating it I just went to two feedings of New Life during which I basically hand feed him by pouring out 10 at a time). But I've always worried that he's not getting enough to eat(it's pretty hard to say "only feed as much as the fish will eat in 2 minutes" when you're doing it this way and he'll keep eagerly coming back, so LFS reccommended the jumbo shrimp as something he would eat and I could feed him daily. Then I added the Hikari really more to give him more variety.

Anyway he doesn't really seem to be getting any bigger. He's like a skinny 7" too, or what I would think of as a juvenile body with no girth or height. I was thinking about adding another small feeding of either the Hikari Cichlid staple, Hikari Gold, or the bigger New Life.

I never run the tank light I just keep the room well lit. I used to, but both my fish hate it and I get algae outbreaks.

But back to the question, lol sorry for the biography of princess the male oscar(my girlfriend named him)should I, can I, and how would I give him vitamins? Anyone know of any good articles on them? Are there risks?

I recently purchased "Selcon" brand fish vitamins.
I soak dry and frozen food in it before I feed. It is mainly used as a source of vitamin C for fish who don't receive a lot of fresh or live food, but I give it to all of my fish.
I don't know whether my fish need it, but I've been reading a bit about nutritional deficiency type diseases and figure it couldn't hurt.
