butterfly & anemone

my butterfly is constantly nipping at my new carpet anemone - he seems to be picking out pieces of food. he doesnt appear to be effected by this. has anyone seen this type of behavior - is he in any danger?

Butterflies are VERY well known for picking anemones and corals to death. That is why they are not considered reef safe, so you have to make the decision as to whether you want the butterfly or you want the Carpet, but the butterfly will surely destroy the anemone given time.
