I have a 29g and i was wondering if a couple pairs of Guppys for the tank will add some more color and some more life to the tank. I would want to get them to breed so i could have some frys.:shake:

What else do you have in there? You could get a bunch of guppies real quick if you want. :D Their like rabbits in that manner.

i have two corys, a plecto (about 1 inch long), a feeder goldfish, 3 neons, 4 rosy barbs(about 1/2 inch long each), and three swordtails.

I think they'd be ok if your barbs arn't too agressive. Guppies breed like crazy, so the only thing you have to to do is get a male and female. Also guppies dont lay eggs and the mother will try to eat the offspring.

The goldfish needs to move. He'll get huge in time. So will the pleco, but at a slower rate. The pleco will be good for about 4 years in there, the goldfish, about 1. The goldfish will try to eat the babies, so careful there. If you get some guppies, get 2 males and 4 females , otherwise the males will harass the hell out of the females. I've bred guppies in the past and usually the parents are okay, but the swords will be trouble. Make sure you have plenty of hiding spots for the babies.
I had a tank similar to what you are talkin about and I made plenty of hiding spots for the babies and let nature take it's course. If the babies make it great if not then oh well. It's a good population control. That's if you don't want to get another tank for the babies. If you plan on another tank then that's a whole new ballgame. When the babies grow up they will take the place of the older fish that die off.

mudvayne,
I aggree with everyone here, you should have no problem with your guppies. The only other problems in your tank might be the swordtails eating the fry and the gold fish.
Problem with goldfish is they produce alot of waste and guppies like their water really clean. They can tolerate many conditions but still like regular water changes. With a goldfish you will be forced to do this on a regular basis.

I find with my guppies having some floating plants at the surface of the water really helps protect the babies! I have many fish that eat the guppy babies, but they hide in the plants at the top.
