Been told that yellow polyps are fairly hardy and easy to care for, hence a good selection for beginners. So, picked up a rock full of them, and have them situated at about mid-level in the tank, on top of my LR. Feed the tank calcium and phytoplankton daily. Guess I'm just looking for general advice/opinion/experience regarding polyps, and tips for anything else I can do for them. Example, do they not like to be moved once situated, are they picky about lighting (are they too close to the top), etc.?

They do enjoy rather strong lighting but it's not critical for growth. They also appreciate strong water movement. You can target feed them with brine, but that is not absolutely required. I have many different types of polyps, including yellow polyps, and never (or very rarely) feed them directly. I have found that mine don't mind being moved around either - they usually open up immediately after a move. If given the proper conditions, they can spread very quickly.

Hey as40,

Where did you get your yellow, i was looking for one too. Do you have a pic of yours? Also, how much was it?

Hope you don't mind me asking :)

gcvt,
Thanks for the info. :)

Marvin,
Not at all. I picked mine up from Tat's Tropical Aquarium store in Ventura. They also have a shop in Thousand Oaks. I picked mine up for what seemed a good price, not having much experience purchasing these things before. It was on sale for $20. I don't have pics, but I'm hoping I can get some fairly soon. A friend of mine came over and took some pictures of my tank on his digital camera, but I've been waiting for him to get the photos to me. As soon as that happens I'll post them up.
