The nice handful of riccia I purchased was actually many smaller "clumps". I thought I did a decent job of securing them all with the fishing line, but this stuff is all over the place now. Should I use the hairnet method until it "solidifies" more. Also, am I right in assuming that this stuff will adhere to my driftwood (and stay together) in time?

Go to the pharmacy and pick up the finest mesh hair net they sell.
Lay the Riccia on the object and cover the Riccia and object completely with the hair netting and tie it off on the bottom.....tightly. If it's not tight, the Riccia will float a bit above the rock or wood(flat rocks are best) and not look good.
I lay it on the rock, enclose the whole thing in the netting, tie tightly and then wrap the whole mess with fishing line to hold it down. The Riccia will grow through the netting and it will disappear when the plant grows out.
Keep it short with a weekly 'hair cut' with scissors and with enough light, it will pearl for you even on the bottom of the tank.
Riccia does not attach itself to anything. It must be held in place if not floating.

Thanks Len. I just got back from the store with a hair net. Felt weird buying it...considering I shave my head.

Tie it down tight. You won't hurt the Riccia by doing so and it will look better. Once it starts to grow you want to keep it short as it dies of on the underside it it doesn't get enough light.
