View Full Version : how much iron
i dont have a iron test kit atm, i plan on getting one soon.
i have flourish iron it says to does to .10mg/l , how often/much would that be for a 10gallon heavily planted roughfully, till i can get test kits
You need to balance your nutrients.
What else are you dosing besides Fe?

So you are dosing only Traces. This will eventually lead to problems unless your fish and tap water is supplying K,N and P to balance the Traces you are supplying.
All the Macros work in tandem with each other and the Traces to supply what the plants need. Dosing only one element of what they need is, IMO, worse than dosing nothing.
Check out the nutrient sticky at the top of the page and then let us know what your tank size, lighting situation, fish load, plant load and water parameters are. You will need test kits first for the parameters.
It would be foolish for anyone to give recommendations without some of the above information, IMO.

I have provided a link on fertilizers. Read here and you can mix a well balanced fertilizer yourself. Eventually, you will try to maintain 0.1mg/l of iron.

I bought the phosphate, iron, and nitrate kits(nitrate you should have also as they are talking about dosing it once your levels are depleted. I bought the Seachem brand as it's supposed to be very accurace and will measure over a full range. I tell you, at least to me, it's difficult to match the colors as the range is very gradual. I will move to one side and it looks good, then I will move a bit more and it looks alright too. :)
