I'm considering moving my texas cichlids and my red terror (they'll need to be relocated soon anyway) and using the 55gal tank as a community tank. I'd like to go with gourami's and angels. However, I need some info on ideal conditions for gouramis and if they'd be compatible with angels. I'm also considering some of the smaller and friendlier cichlids. Or maybe even gourmis/angels/cichlids at the same time. So I'm just fishing for ideas and opinions here. The main thing I'm looking for is color.

Gourami's and angels usually get along IME, every once in a while you'll get a gourami who wants to nip fins but this is usally a blue or larger species, and it vary's by individual. If you get Dwarfs you shouldn't have a problem.

As far as I know the only dwarf gourami that sort of "schools" is the chocolate gourami. The rest tend to stake out a territory and call it their own. As long as there is sufficient territories then having a few of them shouldn't matter.
