Hi,
In my 29 g tank I have 3 zebra danios, 3 corys, 2 ottos and 2 dwarf gouramis. About a week ago I bought a hornwort plant and I've seen all my fish eating it. Now when I put in flake food, almost nobody comes to eat it. Occasionally a zebra danio will eat one small flake but thats it. I see my corys eating the plant and Im not sure if they eat the food that falls to the bottom anymore. Should I try switching foods? would it be smart to start feeding about every second day?

If no one is eating, cut back to feeding every other day, and smaller amounts, as well.

For the gouramies--give them a bit more time to get used to your setup. Make sure there are plenty of hiding places--this makes the fish more comfortable, and they will be more active and out and about than if there are only a few places to hide.

Ditto. (I should keep track of how many times I post that after OrionGirl posts! I usually don't bother posting unless I have something to add...)

You're sure they're eating the plant and not little critters in/on the plant? It may take a week (maybe two) b4 your fish are use to all the activity outside the tank. Funny, they usually figure out the good activity (you coming to the tank to feed them) a lot quicker!

-still love that avitar!

GOURAMIES ARE SHY. THEY MAY TAKE A WHILE TO GET USE TO YOU. I have mine for a month now and they are still a little nervous. But when they get hungry they will come out.
