Just got my snail he gonna be okay?

Well just got my li'l snail no idea what he is the clerk said he might be one of the nusince (sp) snails so when he said that I was like he's comin with me. Anywho I got algae on the sides of my tank but the patches are about 4 inches up. He's been touring the bottom rocks of the tank for like 20min now will he go that high to eat or will he just stick to the bottom? Anyways I think my Betta likes the company he has a pet. My gf named the snail Pokey :D
 
I wouldn't count on a snail (or even a bunch of them) to rid yourself of an algae problem (if thats what you have). The only way to effectively reduce algae in a tank is by preventing it. If you could give us more specifics about your tank, we can help you out... size, stock, water changing habits, feeding habits, lighting, etc.

It's really not enough to be a problem I like my snail I just don't know if this kind of algae will be alright to keep him healthy.
 
Snails can and will survive on very little food... (fooding ranging from anything like fish food to decaying plant matter). Don't worry about feeding your snail.
