Hey guys,

was given a three and a half gallon mirrored tank. I know that i am limited because of the small size but just wondered what my options were. Would a couple of guppies be ok? I wasnt sure about a betta because of the mirrors. Any ideas?

Thanks a lot

Your right that the mirrors might be too much for the betta or any non communty oriented fish / schooling fish. A couple of male guppies would probably do fine in a tank that size. Some plants would really help as well. If the lighting isn't great stick to java fern. Also stick to all male guppies as you don't want to be having babies in their.

As an alternative you could keep an aquatic dwarf frog. He would be happy without company and a daily shrimp pellet.

Thanks TKOS,

i will look into getting two or three guppies to put in it. I havent found a small filter yet but if i do a water change ever week that shouldnt matter to much right?

Thanks

Well without a filter I would be doing twice a week water changes.

They sell small filter for 1 and 2 gallon tanks at walmart. Just sponge and carbon things in a catrdige with an air pump.

Or else you could at least put an airstone in the tank to help off gas the CO2.

Two male guppies would do fine in your tank. You might be ok with three but personally I'd stick with two.

I have a 2 1/2 gal. in my kitchen that is home to one male guppy. For filtration I use a Whisper micro filter. It takes up some space in such a small tank, but it does a good job. One of those would fit your tank nicely I think.

I think i may be able to get hold of a small filter made by rena. Since i live in scotland it is sometimes a real pain to find smaller filters because they just dont seem to exist! Thanks for the advice guys!
