Last night My snake eel (very hard to find in LFS) got out and of course died..my shark followed persut and died also... I was very upset this morning. I have had the shark since it hatched...... My lid wasnt all the way on because of my new protein skimmer but its a B@#$% to wiggle thru a maze of pipeing and power heads (talking about the shark) she has never even at night same to the top of the tank....Dont know what ill put in next. I just finished makeing about 60lbs of homemade cement LR. might just build big pile of rocks and stick my leaf fish in there...My eel or cow fish shouldnt bother.
:sad

Real sorry about your loss. I had similar problem when I first started keeping salt. I just cut a some platic egg crate " like the kind used for flouresent lights" to fit around my skimmer etc problem solved for under $10. Anyway very sorry and I hope this helps. Also I would't add any criteres to a cement based live rock untill it's very well cured usually takes about 6 months with frequent water changes. I'd get something like a large rubbermaid container to cause it will etch your glass with all that lime going into your water.

I would think that something is wrong with the water quality or something. Otherwise why would 2 fish venture out of the tank for no reason? Especially a shark. They are not well known for jumping out of tanks. I would check water quality to make sure there is no ammonia or nitrite spike or no pH crash or something of the like. Anyway, sorry for your loss and hope this helps.

my waters fine nitrates a tad high but going down... I just added blue lights for at night and when they come on every one in the tank get real active..so it was the lights i think....had the idea to use blue rope lights. its great i get to see snowy (my snowflake eel, my girlfriend named it) at night and the long hor loves it........

hey just wondering, what kind of shark was it... and how big of a tank??

yeah i was just wondering... about to see a bannded cat shark hatch from his egg at my lfs... and I can tell it's way cute already. no way i could give him a good home.
