I have a 10-gallon tank stocked with seven danios of various kinds (see tank specs in link below for specifics). One of my zebra danios has been acting relatively lethargic lately (starting yesterday), swimming around slowly in a corner at about mid-level, and rarely venturing out. She sometimes chases fishes who come near her, but more often she is chased back into her corner after peeking out for a bit -- though mostly she does not bother to swim around.
The other six danios are zipping around the whole tank like they usually do, playing "tag," etc. At feeding time, the "lazy" danio will nibble on bits of food -- today they were fed blackworms, yesterday Hikari Micro Pellets -- but she doesn't seem to swallow anything whole.
I wouldn't be too worried about this except that I had a longfin blue danio who acted "lazy" like this from the time I got him. I never worried about it, but after about a month, he died. This was last week, and water conditions are good. Now that the zebra danio is swimming slowly, mostly staying put, and so on, I'm worried that she may be on her way out, as well.
There are no visible signs of disease on this fish, nor were there ever any visible problems with the longfin blue that died. Any theories as to why the fish is acting this way/what I should do?
I'll keep you posted if there are any changes in the situation. Thanks in advance for your thoughts.
