i am wondering, how much more money a month do you think it is to run something like a 300watt power compact light compared to a 20 watt regular. has anyone ever figured it out? id be interested to hear how much it costs per tank equipment

just figure out how much you pay for electricity and its pretty simple to figure out.
For instance, at the rate of $.10 a Kwh, and running the bulb 12 hours a day, the 20 watt bulb would cost $.73 a month, and the 300 watt PC woud cost $10.95.

Just a side note: If you have an older magnetic ballast (like the shoplights at the homedepot), factor in extra energy use due to the ballast. 2 4 foot bulbs would burn 80 watts for the bulb, and about an extra 20% energy is consumed by the ballast.
