Wohoo! First inhabitants

I cycled my 55g with 85 lbs of fiji live rock. Took about 2 weeks.

Well anyway last night I got a clean up crew.
A few snails, a few hermits, and a lawnmower blenny.
Oh yeah, and the wife wanted a shrimp, so we got a small Coral Banded. After acclimation, I set them free and within minutes they were all doing their thing. The blenny is so great. He is chomping away at the algea covered LR. Checked on them all this morning and everyone is fine. Did water test and everything this morning looked good. Nitrite was at .1 though, I don't like that. The water change today will help that until the bacteria catch up.

Anyway it is so nice to see some moving things in the tank now

I am also going to run my CustomSealife 18W UV for a week to kill any nasties that may have come in with the new introductions. After that it will be run only when adding inhabitants or disease outbreaks.

I'll definately get some posted, but am not too proud of how it looks at the moment with all the brown algea. I'll give "Lenny the Blenny" a few days to mow the lawn, and then get some up.

The UV sterilizer gets fed by a powerhead and exposes water from the tank to Ultraviolet light, killing anything that passes through it. It is indescriminate and kills the good stuff too, so I only will use it a week at a time when adding new critters to kill ich or other parasites from the LFS' water (or at least try and reduce them.) I used it on a freshwater tank that had free floating algea (pea soup looking water) and within a day it was crystal clear.

Anyone who wants to see lenny in action can look at this short video clip. I didn't show the whole tank because it looks so bad with all the diatom algea everywhere, but he has made quite an impact already, and the corraline underneath is getting exposed.
