canister filter verses biowheel filters

which is better for the fish? It seemes as though i am not getting enough air into my tank with my canister filter? Is that a problem with those? It seemes like my chiclids are not getting enough air. most are swimming but there are 2 up at the verry top of the tank. Any comments would be greatly accepted.

Cichlids swimming near the top, especially if just one or two of many, are often the victims of aggression who are without a territory of their own on the tank floor. (This is particularly true of mbuna who greatly prefer hiding under cover at the bottom of the tank.) Careful observation of the fish for some time... at least a half hour... often can reveal if they're getting picked on.

A canister should be OK. Many canisters have a spraybar or jet return that allows you to aim the outlet. Just make sure you have good surface disruption and you should have plenty of oxygen exchange.
