I need to find a fish somewhere aroung 3 to 5 inch that swims around the top and mid level area of the tank????? All the other fish that I have stay at the bottom except the Zebra Danios.

don't know how they'd get on with the gourami
or loaches though.
probably also need some sort of floating vegetation, plastic or otherwise, but cool looking fish, and reasonably hardy.

What about giant danios. They get about 5 inches or so and stay mostly near the top. Fun fish to watch. Different look than zebras.
Rainbowfish fit the bill nicely. Dwarf neons look really good and stay fairly small. They are fast moving like your danios and stay mostly mid level.

There are other nice rainbowfish species too. Gouramies are also fairly high level fish, both are some of my favourites.

Livebearers have nice colours and are active on all the levels of the tank. Cherry barbs are active and fairly docile. Congo Tetras are really nice. Rainbows are nice also, particularly the Boesmani.
