Goldfish tails

I have two Black Moor goldfish in my tank. Both were bought at the same time out of the same tank, but one fish has a tail that is connected at the top, and the other has one that isn't. So one fish has a tail that looks like a triangle missing the 3rd side, and the other looks like he has two tails. :confused:



Does anyone know why this is?

They were like that when I bought 'em.


I don't know how they're supposed to be. Do you think I have a "mutt" or something?

Hello Cobreth, like Hound said it is only genetic thing. There is nothing wrong with either of your fish, unless you plan on entering your fish in a contest then the one with the split fins will do better.

I went to Petsmart today to look at their Black Moors and they all had split tails. I thought the split tail was the mutated one.


But, meh.. I like the joined tail.
