:( Over time one of my clown loaches has grown very very thin..it used to be the fattest pig in the tank(lol, no offense to fishy) Its not eating at all and im almost afraid nothing can be done about it..i posted an attachment picture. you cant see the problem too well because this guy is a little camera shy. (due to limited file attachment size, i had to convert to .Gif format, the photo may look a little grainy)

Ahh almost forgot tank water specs.

PH -neutral
Ammonia-0.5
Nintrates-0.0

Ill test gh&kh later.. :\

Are you sure your nitrItes aren't 0? 0 Nitrates would be a sign that you have a much bigger problem than one skinny clown loach. You don't mention if you have company for him? These fish are very social and are stressed in conditions where they don't have a group to interact with. http://www.loaches.com has an article or two on wasting away diseases that clown loaches are prone to. IMO, the kH and gH really aren't important for diagnosing problems as long as your pH stays stable and you keep them stable with regular water changes. Your fish are already adapted to it, and stability is FAR more important than exactly matching the parameters from their collection locale. Good luck with your fish.

He has 3 companions..i dont think he will make it over night...u can see his bones..literally, he seems to not have a sense of direction; bumping in to things. And yes :( nitrates are at zero....:shake: ... Im thinking he may have a disease of some sort..one of my other clowns has died recently..Now im conserned about the nitrates..

:shake: after reading up..it appears i have "burned" my clown..his skin is whiteish and he must have absorbed some sort of a chemical...Do you think this.. "plant Food" chemicals could be the culprit. so called "Leaf zone"

Clown loaches with sunken bellies (not to mention bumping into things) are sick, stressed, and most likely going to die soon.

Move him (no flushing talk - MSL) before he dies in the tank, (causing an ammonia spike) or spreads whatever disease he has to your other fish.

Clown loaches are supposed to have rounded bellies, and be in schools of at least 3 (5 or more is better.)

I DID have 4 clowns...but one died..now this guy is sitting in a quarratine tank.. i put some medication in there ..and his breathing and movement have picked up very fast.. I did some retesting here are my results

Ammonia- 0
nitrites- .25
gh Kh- Lost card. Color was light so im guessin low

Seems like you are doing what you can, might be a wait and see kind of thing. 1 of my platies got really skinny and I figured was going to die but seems to have recovered. She never got full bodied again but keeps up with every one.
