so i bought one of those python gravel cleaners, and man, there was alot of crap at the bottom underneath the gravel. so for the last week i've been doing 25 percent water changes with the python. today i finally got all the food out except for the very very small pieces which make the water murky.

QUESTIONS:
1.ammonia is always lil bit less than .5, will it be exacty zero?
2. are those porcilin (think thats what they called) blue filter bars any good?
3. 3 yellow tetra's 1 black tetra 1 pleco, should i just give the black tetra backto store, don't feel like buying more for a school or is 2 enuff?

I generally say a school is five or more, but I prefer to have at least seven myself. Yes ammonia and nitrites should get to a point where they can read zero in your tank. Since you've been vacuuming the gravel and getting lots of old stuff out it should help you out tremendously.

It's been my experience when there is THAT much gunk in the gravel that:
I am overfeeding and causing that much gunk;
My filter isn't working as it should be to clean the detritus from the tank; and - or -
I'm not cleaning out the gravel regularly (enough).

So, consider those things, and good luck to you.
