lemon juice to lower ph?

I dont plan on using something high in acid like lemon juice to increase ph. I was just wondering if you could add something like that if you needed an increase in ph. Would sprite work too, it looks like water which would be a bonus.

NO

Stop. Full stop. Don't go there.

First, that will involve introducing a lot of sugars to the tank that will not be a good thing.

Second, acids will reduce the pH not raise it.

Third, and most important, the pH will soon bounce back to where it started and you fish will be greatly disturbed by this.

A bad idea, all around.

Now, why do you think you need to change the pH?

sorry i ment lower the ph. I wasnt ever planning on it, I just wanted to bring the idea up for opinions. if somehow you had a high ph when your fish dont like it, it would need lowering.

Driftwood in the tank or peat in the filter are really the only thing I've successfully (controllably) lowered PH with, CO2 will do it, but I haven't tried that yet. Sugars would be bad I would think, lemon juice as well.

last I heard sugar isnt all that bad for tanks at all. In fact, many people use it for algae control.

might have some indirect problems but again I have not read up on the issue at all so I am open to anything. Im curious how the ph would rebound? maybe when you did water changes but how does a ph increaser not have that side effect to it then.
