What kind of clam are you interested in, and where?
For a little tank, some of IPSF's sandbed clams might work.
Tridacnid ("giant") clams won't work in anything that small. The easiest species, like squamosa and derasa, also grow the biggest.
I have kept dwarf cichlids that seem to live nowhere but filters. Take them out and they go back in.
