molly fry in filter

My molly just popped a million molly fry out like a slot machine spitting coins out.
I saw a couple get sucked into the filter intake. Does anyone know if the dead fry will throw my water chemistry off? Should i take the filter out and get them dead buggers?
All the fry got eaten, so i don't have to feed my fish for a while ! lol
So much for not overfeeding my tetras! :D
 
If you can, definately locate the dead fry and remove them from your tank. Dead fish/fry/organisms in your tank can potentially throw off the delicate chemistry of a tank... especially when the tank is stocked to near capacity. You may actually be surprised... some people have told stories of finding live fish fry in their filters (granted its usually UGFs, or HOB filters).

Yeah, you might find a few in the filter. Otherwise, it's no more to the chemistry than a bit of an overfeeding, which none of us ever do. :rolleyes: Change the filter pads and carbon tomorrow and all will be good. Might want to do an extra water change, the nitrates from the waste, a.k.a. fry, might spike a bit.
 
My canister filter is an excellent platy fry collection device. They always seem fine, and it's a lot easier than netting them out of a heavily planted tank.
