Ok,
I spotted on my live rock crawling around a small aprox 1 cm long insect like thing. From what I saw of it, for a very short period of time, looked like it was a small segmented body, like a centipede, legs coming out of the segments though not many legs, a small head with what looked like antennae forward of its head. It had been running around the top of a large piece of LR, and then, when a clown came to see it , it crawled into a small crevice, then when the clown left it scurried off to hide.
What is it? I dont think its a mantis, though I need to look again to be sure. Its sort of a whitish color. I didnt see the shrimp tail.

I have a 60 gal tank 1 peppermint shrimp, one clown, and a couple of bubble tip anemones. Found the bristle worms and those guys are getting to be about 3 to 6 inches long the ones that come out, but the insect, or whatever it was has me stumped.
I guess the natural progression would be to also ask, if someone is familiar with it, is it safe? and is there a natural way to get rid of it, like getting a 6 line wrasse, knowing they seem to like bristle worms.

I have many of those- though I cannot provide a proper ID. I think they are just part of the normal fauna in a reef tank.

I had a similar experience finding whitish crawly things about 2 months ago and posted to the group. This sounds similar.

It was identified as a gammarus shrimp (copeipod)...a good thing for your tank. I had a photo posted at the time, but the pages here only go back about a month & 1/2.

My "centipede things" look nothing at all (not even a little) like my "amphipod things"

Isopod maybe? Here's a photo for Ron Shimek's web site. (http://www.rshimek.com/odd_critters.htm#Sand%20Skaters)

There are parasitic isopods, but most are harmless scavengers. If there are a lot, then they are probably scavenging.

The red spots are eyes, I think. Maybe the orange things on your rock are tunicates or sponges.
