clear pond water?

Just wanted to know if ANYONE in Texas has a clear pond during the summer months? we just had ours put in, and it was great at first, but now i can't see fish eventhough we have a couple of plecos in there. kinda wish we hadn't put it in if this is all the visibility we're gonna have.

How long has it been set up? If it is within the first 6 weeks or so, then it is totally expected...

You'd be hard pressed to find a Pleco in any pond I have seen. I had a couple of them and could see them only at night with a spotlight. Most ponds I have seen have black liners, or pre-formed black moulds... Our pond water is clear too.. Pleco's have colorings that promote camoflage - they blend in well with the environment.

As mentioned, give your pond some more time to 'adjust'... Clean your filter as needed..

Hi, I to live in East Texas and I had just put in a larger pond this spring just in time for the live oaks to start dropping there flowers and for the silk worms to start there apperance my pond was great at first too then went black the thing that really made a difference was a few things first I got a bio filter and cleaned my pre filter and the bio every couple of days then I took my wet/dry shop vack and cleaned all the debris from the botom of the pond and did a 75% water change I added Turbo start when I refilled and got Koi clay and a Barley bail (the bail helps keep kill the alge and nothing else) and the pond is staying crystal clear now. I know that next fall I will put a net over my pond to keep the leaves out and put it back again it the spring when the live oaks do their thing agian. I am new to this backyard pond keeping it does seem to be a lot of work but in the evening when I go and feed my koi and get to watch them eat and play it is all worth it. Just a thought if you have a problem seeing your fish because they blend with a solid color what about doing a 50% white rock on the bottom so you might see them some times before they have a chance to blend in. It will probably help if you have uv filters. I have 5 plecos in my two ponds and see them every once in a while during the day. They will come out. Mine are commons/gibbys. Now they are big, all over 15" so they are easy to see when they come out (at least relatively easy). They do blend in well, especially if there is algae or something on the bottom.
