So what kind of salt do you use? Have you tried any other salt? What sort of experiences have you had with these mixes?

Having been a reefer (well- of the marine sort anyway) for only 4 short months- I voted Instant Ocean regular. I chose this only because it is readily available locally at more than one location.

Kent is the only salt my business has ever used.

yeah from what i hear, kent is supposed to be *the* salt, but most of us use Instant Ocean because it's so available.

I used Kent for a while and then switched to IO because it had a good reputation and is considerably cheaper than Kent in my area. Both are good salts - never had a problem with either one. I'm tempted to try the new Oceanic salt mix; lots of folks have good things to say about it.

oops, I missed ment to vote for IO and voted for the reef crystals . I've also used kent didn't really notice anything different.

Read this Article and you may think harder about which you use. Dr. Fosters and Smith actually advertises regular IO as a "fish only" salt mix.

Oh, and by the way, after reading the article I am switching from IO to Crystal Seas. And its cheaper than the IO at the LFS, even after paying shipping.

Here's the second oops... I don't use IO, I use Oceanic. Oh and by the way, I put in my first batch of saltwater ever last night!
