I was wondering if this would be enough for a 180 gal. tank. (Or maybe 2 of them). I haven't setup the tank yet. Still in the gathering mode. Already had a Eheim 2260, Tsunami WaveMaker (still need to get three power heads - maybe y'all could suggest some good ones). I'll be setting up the DSB with either Southdown or Oldcastle sand. I don't think I'll be needing a heater or chiller, it just doesn't get to those extremes here in Hawaii. Thanks for any advise. Aloha

P.S. Oh yeah, forgot about the lighting... I have a 72" CurrentUSA 4x96w power compact w/ dual actinics and dual daylights.

Yes it should be enough. Make sure you can reach the sponge on the mag 3 to clean it. I have one 180 gallon tank with two of them and one 180 without a skimmer. Both have two Emperor 400 filters on the. I like the way the one without the skimmer runs, better.

Thanks Ray.
What do you think about the prefilter? Is it worth the money.

Also for wave action I checked Ebay and I might get two Maxi-jet 1200's but the one thing the bothers me is I'm not sure that they have adjustable volume control (if 265 gph/ powerhead is too much I'd like to be able to "turn it down" a little).

If we are talking about the Remora-C with mag, the only prefilter I use is the sponge on the input to the Mag 3 water pump.

As to the Maxijet 1200 - they have no flow adjustment that I know of. Two will be fine in a tank that size. They are on sale for $18.69 ea at www.DrsfosterSmith.com
