I posted a while ago about algae eaters and hair algea and have searched some past posts and stickies about algae control. So far a lot of people talk about farawellas being a god send when it comes to hair algae and overall control. But I've found little in the way of aggression info to other fish and conspecifics. I was hoping to get 2 or 3 to control my planted tank algae which is being overrun by mostly hair algae. My pet store has some larger ones for a good price. Algae eaters were cheaper but so small they would just be lunch.

I'm not sure what your question is?
Is it about their aggression?

I have three farlowellas (searches work better if you spell it right :p ) in a planted 90 gallon with Discus and Cardinal Tetras- they are fine. Once in a very great while I will see a farlo trying to latch onto the side of a Discus, but the Discus just shake them off. Other than that they cause no harm whatsoever.

I got three only because I am hoping they will pair up- tried to choose a male and two females for a better shot at it, but didn't have a magnifier at the LFS so who knows.

I'll work on my spelling of farlowella but it isn't exactly a word spellchecker can get and online there's a million misspellings of the word on forums turning up info. But I just wanted to know about their agression because I think 3 is a good number and I didn't want them causing to much fuss with eachother and my other fish. I'm not sure what the species is since they are just labelled as "farlowella" at my LFS. I figure today I'll pick them up, quarentine them and introduce next week. Plus I needed some more foreground and midlevel plants for my aquascaping of the tank so a trip is in order (my personal excuse to go to the LFS today and check out everything that is new).
